A day with ALex Knost
Today i was awoken by Mr. Knost promptly at 7:15am, he called to say he was surfing. I was quite tired up on an edit til 4 in the morning so on only a few hours sleep i motivated and went down to Blackies. The day started out a bit slow with a marine layer, then the sun started to pop out, a city truck got stuck under the Newport Pier, and people started to line the beaches. Alex was there with his surf crew Jared Mell and Tanner Prairie. They switched boards, and Jared rode a board finless and was spinning around all over the place. I was able to film from the pier which is pretty rare so I was frothing on the filming, it was kinda fun and the waves picked up, felt alot like the POLYESTER project, same energy at the beach.
AL was mostly riding a 4’10 twin fin that he now is tearing on. After a nice roll of film of waves, i shot some digitals in between for promotion of an upcoming show in Japan. We then went to the shaping shack, where i shot another roll of film to add with the surf footage. Its gonna be a small film short for that Japan show in July. Later we even worked on the RVCA AL Knost line film and talked about a trip to BALI that im pretty sure we are going on in a couple weeks. Nice productive day with Mr. Knost.
