Eight years ago, almost to the day, my brother Nick and I and some friends moved from Vermont to Maine to be closer to the waves. Nick was a self employed photographer and could really live almost anywhere, but I had a full-time job in Vermont that I loved. Nick and I both had surfed in Maine and New Hampshire for a few years, making the 7 hour round trip whenever the forecast was looking good.
